Mantou Sans
Mantou Sans (饅頭黑體) is a heavy weight Traditional Chinese font that you can download for free. It was built on top of the popular Japanese open-sourced font called “Dela Gothic One” which is available on Google Fonts. According to the author, the creation of the Mantou Sans is to supplement the missing Traditional Chinese characters that are not available in the original Dela Gothic One. Mantou (饅頭) is a Chinese steamed bun that is commonly eaten by the Chinese community. Its wide and chubby shape perfectly suited as the name of this font, as the characters have the heavy and wide built. Mantou Sans is a font that is meant for large display usage, in order to fully showcase the appearance and the details of the characters. It’s not recommended to use in small font sizes, with its heavy weight the characters will become hard to read when is small.
Mantou Sans was created with the additional supplement of Taiwanese Traditional Chinese characters to the original Japanese font Dela Gothic One. Therefore, Mantou Sans is also released as a free font available for commercial use, under the same Open Font License as Dela Gothic One. In other word, feel free to use this font for any projects for free! However, if you are looking for the Simplified Chinese version, look no further than Unbounded Sans, which is also built on top of Dela Gothic One but supplemented with Simplified Chinese characters.
