jf open huninn

jf open huninn (jf open 粉圓字型) is a free traditional Chinese font with the rounded character style. It was created by a font foundry from Taiwan called justfont as a gift to the community after their success in launching another font. According to justfont, open-sourced rounded font set in traditional Chinese is rare, therefore they took the initiative to create this font with the help of two open-sourced fonts. The traditional Chinese characters are derived from an open-sourced Japanese font “Kosugi Maru“. The team modified its Japanese kanji characters to be more balanced and conforming to traditional Chinese character form, while the latin characters are supplemented from Varela Round. Besides that, additional characters are included including 1,477 commonly used traditional Chinese characters, plus phonetic symbols and romanization characters of Taowanese Hokkien that will be useful in Taiwan context.

Overall, jf open huninn perfectly blended both of the open-sourced fonts and with the additional characters included, it is a very useful font for designs and writings that are set in traditional Chinese characters, especially for Taiwan audiences. This font continues to be an open-sourced font licensed under the same SIL Open Font License, you can use it freely for personal and commercial projects, and even to modify and redistribute it.
