Nanxi Chuxia Song

Nanxi Chuxia Song (南西初夏宋) is a condensed, modern Chinese serif font that supports both simplified and traditional Chinese. It was designed by a creator named “Songling Nanxi” from the Chinese RedNote platform. He created this font based on Source Han Serif, an open-sourced font from Adobe. He made the characters more condensed and tall, and modified the tip end especially the horizontal strokes to make it more clean, elegant and stylish with the tall body structure. It’s unusual to see condensed Chinese font, as their characters are generally more blocky, and this font indeed reminds me of the current rising trend of condensed serif font on the English language websites, like the Instrument Serif.
With its condensed structure, this font only works best on larger sizes. It will be very hard to read when using it with small font sizes, therefore this font works best for headlines and big callouts. Nanxi Chuxia Song only comes with the Regular font weight, and it supports mostly all Simplified and Traditional Chinese characters.
